CSES Funding

Funding for college can be supplemented in three ways:

Scholarships:
Scholarships are competitive and often depend upon academic achievements (grade point average) and scholarly, social, and civic leadership. Some are ear-marked for students with special financial needs. They are grants that don’t have to be repaid. Try for a scholarship. If you don’t apply, the grantor can’t say “yes.”

Loans:
Loans can be a way to pay your college expenses, but they will have to be repaid when you graduate. Use them, but keep them to a minimum, if possible. Qualify yourself for a scholarship by proving your academic ability, and you’ll have fewer loans to pay.

Part-Time Work:
Many students work part-time while attending college.  This work may require that you lighten your academic load in order to have time to handle a job and to be successful in your course work. It may take you a semester or two longer to graduate, but you may, in turn, have fewer debts to pay after you graduate. Think seriously about the advantages of Scholarships, Loans, and Work to support your education.
