Present Duties: As Director of the University of Arkansas Rice Research and Extension Center (RREC), I oversee a 1,000 acre research facility for 10 resident UA faculty, 5 USDA adjunct faculty, plus more than 65 employees.  The RREC also accommodates the research of many UA and USDA faculty and students who are not located here at the Center.  In addition, I am the Director of  the Foundation Seed program (producing rice, soybean and wheat seed) and Chair of the Arkansas Seed Council.

Research Emphasis

Plant breeding and whole-plant genetics, particularly of rice and sugarcane.  Emphasis on cultivar development and evaluation of genotypes for adaptation to new environments.  Also focus on concerns and compatibility of agriculture, natural resource use and conservation, and the human (urban) environment.

Cultivar Releases:-Co-author on 22 sugarcane (CP varieties) registrations in Crop Science.

-Pending rice variety release.
